Good evening students and parents,
This is Lauryn Duncan, Principal at Douglass Elementary School calling with a few announcements for the week.
Parents, please remember that if your child stays for after school tutoring on Mondays and Thursdays, tutoring ends at 3:45 pm. Please be sure that your child’s ride is here at 3:45 pm.
Douglass Elementary PTO would like to invite all families to the Roll-A-Bout in Eden on Tuesday, April 30 from 5:30-7:30 pm for our Decades Skate Night! Please remember that this is not a drop off event and an adult must accompany any student attending Skate Night.
Parents, please remember that Wednesday, May 1 is an early release day and all students will be dismissed at 12:45 pm. If your child is a car rider please be sure their ride is here at 12:45 pm..
Rockingham County School’s Special Olympics will be this Friday, May 3. We are so excited to have our students participate in the activities and games. In honor of our athletes we encourage everyone to participate in spirit this week. Monday is “DREAM BIG” day and students can wear appropriate pajamas or comfy clothes. Tuesday is “be a hero” day and students are encouraged to dress like their favorite superhero. Wednesday is “Be a Champion” day and students can wear their favorite sports gear. Thursday is “Be You-nique” day and students are encouraged to wear their most unique, wacky and fun outfits. Friday is “Eagle Spirit” day and students can wear blue or Douglass attire. Staff and students will line the hallways to cheer on our athletes as they depart for the games and activities.
Finally, parents, we have our end of year awards assemblies scheduled. Please mark your calendars! Our Second grade awards assembly will be Monday, June 3 beginning at 8:30 am. Our third grade awards assembly will be Monday, June 3 beginning at 10:00 am and our fourth grade awards assembly will be Monday, June 3 beginning at 1:00 pm. Our kindergarten awards assembly will be Tuesday, June 4 beginning at 8:30 am. Our first grade awards assembly will be Tuesday, June 4 beginning at 10:00 am. Finally, our 5th grade graduation and awards assembly is scheduled for Wednesday, June 5 beginning at 8:30 am.
