Good Evening Students and parents! This is Lauryn Duncan, Principal at Douglass Elementary School calling with a few announcements for the week. First, I want to say thank you for an excellent first week of school. We really appreciate the support and cooperation of all of our Douglass families.

There is no school tomorrow, Monday, September 5th. Students will return to school on Tuesday, September 6th.

Doors will again open for all students this week at 7:20am and they may report directly to their classroom. Students wishing to eat breakfast in our cafeteria will do so before heading to their classroom. Our tardy bell rings at 7:50am each morning. Students arriving late to school must be signed in by a parent at our front desk. As you arrive, parents are encouraged to use our morning car line for easy drop off.

Parents, breakfast and lunch are no longer free of charge this year. The cost of breakfast is $2.25 and the cost of lunch is $3.25. If you are interested in completing a lunch form please visit our school website at douglasselementary.org and click on the lunch form link located on the homepage. Lunch accounts can be created and updated by visiting k12paymentcenter.com.

Our annual school wide fundraiser started last week. Our kickoff assembly will take place this Wednesday. Permission slips were provided to families last week and we have lots of students already selling candy bars. It is not too late to participate. If your child would like to participate please send the permission slip to school on Tuesday. Our chocolate bar fundraiser will end Wednesday, September 21. All money is due Friday, September 23.

Families, our kindergarten students will be busy learning colors this week. Help our kindergartners have fun by asking your child to wear orange on Wednesday, purple on Thursday, and white on Friday.

Lastly, our PTO is selling Douglass Elementary t-shirts. Order forms came home with your child Friday. If you would like to order a t-shirt please be sure to turn in the order form with cash or check made payable to PTO of Douglass Elementary to your child’s teacher. We appreciate your support of Douglass Elementary school’s PTO. Also, please visit our website to learn more about our PTO and events.
