Good Evening students and parents,

This is Lauryn Duncan, Principal at Douglass Elementary School calling with a few announcements for the week.

There is no school tomorrow, Monday, September 4th. Students will return to school on Tuesday, September 5th.

Doors will open for all students at 7:20 am and they may report directly to their classroom. Breakfast will be served to all students in their classrooms. Our tardy bell rings at 7:50 am each morning. Students arriving late to school must be signed in by a parent at our front desk.

Parents, if your child rides a bus, please be sure that you are visible so that our drivers can drop your child off. Our drivers must remain on schedule in order to run their middle and high school routes. Please remember that if your child is in grades K-3, someone has to be visible or present for our bus drivers to allow your child to get off the bus.

Parents, breakfast and lunch are free to all students this year. However, a la carte items are still available for purchase in the cafeteria. Lunch accounts can be created and updated by visiting k12paymentcenter.com.

Our annual school wide fundraiser will continue this week. If your child would like to participate please send in a permission slip to school. Our chocolate bar fundraiser will end Thursday, September 14. All money is due Friday, September 15.

Families, our kindergarten students will be busy learning colors this week. Help our kindergartners have fun by asking your child to wear orange on Wednesday, purple on Thursday, and white on Friday.

Parents, our first PTO meeting will be on Tuesday, September 12 beginning at 5:30 in the media center. Please consider attending this meeting as we will discuss events and fundraisers for the 2023-2024 school year.

Lastly, our first Title 1 Curriculum Parent Night will be Thursday, September 21 from 6:00-7:00 pm. Please make plans to attend as you will receive information regarding the expectations of teaching and learning here at Douglass Elementary school. Kona Ice will be here to help us enjoy our first parent night and our Book Fair will also be open for our families to shop.

We hope you enjoy the rest of your evening and we look forward to seeing you bright and early Tuesday morning.
