AlertNow Message: Sept. 17, 2023

Good Evening students and parents,

This is Lauryn Duncan, Principal at Douglass Elementary School calling with a few announcements for the week.

Doors will open for all students at 7:20 am and they may report directly to their classroom. Breakfast will be served to all students in their classrooms. Our tardy bell rings at 7:50 am each morning. Students arriving late to school must be signed in by a parent at our front desk.

Parents, if your child rides a bus, please be sure that you are visible so that our drivers can drop your child off. Our drivers must remain on schedule in order to run their middle and high school routes. Please remember that if your child is in grades K-3, someone has to be visible or present for our bus drivers to allow your child to get off the bus.

Parents, our first Title 1 Curriculum Parent Night will be this Thursday, September 21 from 6:00-7:00 pm. Our K-2 grade session will begin at 6:00 and our 3-5 session will begin at 6:30. Please remember that volunteer training will be available for parents who wish to volunteer in classrooms this year or go on field trips. Please make plans to attend as you will receive information regarding the expectations of teaching and learning here at Douglass Elementary school. Kona Ice will be here to help us enjoy our first parent night and our Book Fair will open at 5:30 for our families to shop.

Families, our kindergarten, PreK and functional skills classes will continue practicing and learning colors this week. Help our students have fun by asking your child to wear yellow on Monday, red on Tuesday, brown on Wednesday, gray on Thursday, and tie-dye on Friday.

We hope you enjoy the rest of your evening and we look forward to seeing you bright and early tomorrow morning.

Lauryn Duncan
