AlertNow Message: Sept. 10, 2023

Good Evening students and parents,

This is Lauryn Duncan, Principal at Douglass Elementary School with a few announcements for the week.

Parents, breakfast and lunch are free to all students this year. However, a la carte items are still available for purchase in the cafeteria. Lunch accounts can be created and updated by visiting k12paymentcenter.com.

This is the final week for our annual school wide fundraiser. If your child would like to participate please send in a permission slip to school. Our chocolate bar fundraiser will end this Thursday, September 14th. All money is due Friday, September 15th.

Families, our Prek, Functional Skills and kindergarten students will continue learning and practicing colors this week. Help our students have fun by asking your child to wear pink on Monday, black on Tuesday, green on Wednesday, blue on Thursday, and red, white and blue on Friday.

Parents, our first PTO meeting will be this Tuesday, September 12th beginning at 5:30 pm in the media center. Please consider attending this meeting as we will discuss events and fundraisers for the 2023-2024 school year.

3rd Grade parents, your child will be taking the beginning of grade 3 assessment Wednesday, September 13th. We will begin testing at 8:30 am. Please be sure that your child gets a good night’s sleep and is on time.

Future Panther Night is scheduled for this Friday, September 15th at the Morehead High School home football game. The first 100 elementary students to enter will receive a free t-shirt. There will be one free admission for one student with each paying adult.

Lastly, our first Title 1 Curriculum Parent Night will be Thursday, September 21st from 6:00-7:00 pm. Please make plans to attend as you will receive information regarding the expectations of teaching and learning here at Douglass Elementary school. Kona Ice will be here to help us enjoy our first parent night and our Book Fair will also be open for our families to shop.

We hope you enjoy the rest of your evening and we look forward to seeing you bright and early tomorrow morning.
