Good Evening students and parents! This is Lauryn Duncan, Principal at Douglass Elementary School calling with a few announcements for the week.
Doors will again open for all students this week at 7:20am and they may report directly to their classroom. Students wishing to eat breakfast in our cafeteria will do so before heading to their classroom. Parents, please remember that our cafeteria stops serving breakfast at 7:45am. Our tardy bell rings at 7:50am each morning. Students arriving late to school must be signed in by a parent at our front desk. Parents, please remember to use the front crosswalk in the mornings to ensure the safety of you and your child.
Parents, we will be celebrating Red Ribbon Week this week as we partner together to be drug free. Please encourage your students to “sock it to drugs” on Monday as they wear fun socks. “Team up against drugs” on Tuesday and wear their favorite sport’s team gear. “Put a cap on drugs” by wearing a hat on Wednesday. Wearing blue to show you’re against bullying on Thursday and “Don’t Let Drugs Ruin Your Character” by dressing up like your favorite book character on Friday.
Our PTO is very excited about hosting our Trunk or Treat Read with Me event on Friday, October 28th from 5:00-7:00 pm. Please join us for a night of fun and candy!
Parents, October 28th is an early release day. Students will be dismissed at 12:45pm. Please be sure that your child’s ride is here at 12:45pm. Also, Monday, October 31st is a teacher workday. There will be no school for students on Monday.
We hope you enjoy the rest of your evening and we look forward to seeing you Tuesday morning.
Lauryn Duncan
