Good evening students and parents,
This is Lauryn Duncan, Principal at Douglass Elementary School calling with a few announcements for the week.
Parents, we are encouraging all staff and students to wear blue tomorrow Monday, October 2 as we recognize World Day of Bully Prevention.
Please remember that Rockingham County Schools will continue to require approved background checks for any chaperone or volunteer within our school that has unsupervised contact with students. All background checks are handled online, including payment, no money is sent to school. More information about background checks can be found on our district’s website under the parents & students tab. On this page you will find a section titled “Volunteer Resources.” Please click on the links located in this section to learn about the background check process. This information is important as most of our grade levels have field trips scheduled during the fall semester.
Parents, please remember that if your child is sick and is vomiting or has a fever, our policy states that they cannot return to school until 24 hours later.
Also, it is extremely important that during morning drop off and afternoon dismissal you remain in the right lane for the duration of drop off and pick up. It is not permissible to pass cars using the right hand lane as students enter and exit vehicles. Again, this is to ensure the safety of our students and staff.
Finally, I would like to thank everyone who participated in our candy bar fundraiser. Thank you to everyone who has turned in any outstanding candy money. We still have not received some payments for boxes of chocolate. Please know that all money helps support our students and their learning. If you have not turned in your candy money, please do so this week.
We hope you enjoy the rest of your evening and we look forward to seeing you bright and early Monday morning.
Lauryn Duncan
