Good Evening students and parents! This is Lauryn Duncan, Principal at Douglass Elementary School calling with a few announcements for the week.
Doors will open for all students this week at 7:20am and they may report directly to their classroom. Students wishing to eat breakfast in our cafeteria will do so before heading to their classroom. Parents, please remember that our cafeteria stops serving breakfast at 7:45am. Our tardy bell rings at 7:50am each morning. Students arriving late to school must be signed in by a parent at our front desk. Parents, please remember to use the front crosswalk in the mornings to ensure the safety of you and your child.
Our next PTO meeting will be Tuesday, November 8th beginning at 6:00 pm in the media center. Our PTO invites you to attend the meeting as we plan for upcoming events including the Christmas Store we will offer to our families.
Just a reminder, breakfast and lunch are no longer free of charge this year. The cost of breakfast is $2.25 and the cost of lunch is $3.25. If you are interested in completing a lunch form please visit our school website at douglasselementary.org and click on the lunch form link located on the homepage. Lunch accounts can be created and updated by visiting k12paymentcenter.com.
Parents, it is extremely important that during morning drop off and afternoon dismissal you remain in the right lane for the duration of drop off and pick up. This is to ensure the safety of our students and staff.
For all 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade parents, please remember that if your child is participating in the Science Fair, all Science Fair projects are due November 8th. Please turn in all projects to Mrs. Murphy-Waters, our media specialist.
Parents, Friday, November 11th is Veterans Day. There will be no school on Friday for students or staff. Thank you to all of the Veterans for your service! Also, please remember that Daylight Savings is Sunday morning so don’t forget to adjust your clocks back one hour.
We hope you enjoy the rest of your evening and we look forward to seeing you bright and early tomorrow morning,
Lauryn Duncan
