Good Evening students and parents!

This is Lauryn Duncan, Principal at Douglass Elementary School calling with a few announcements for the week.

Unfortunately, due to the cold weather in the morning we are having to reschedule the Mobile Dairy Classroom visit to Douglass Elementary. We will provide information at a later date as to when it will be rescheduled.

Just a reminder, breakfast and lunch are no longer free of charge this year. The cost of breakfast is $2.25 and the cost of lunch is $3.25. If you are interested in completing a lunch form please visit our school website at douglasselementary.org and click on the lunch form link located on the homepage. Lunch accounts can be created and updated by visiting k12paymentcenter.com.

Please remember that Rockingham County Schools will continue to require approved background checks for any chaperone or volunteer within our school that has unsupervised contact with students. All background checks are handled online, including payment, no money is sent to school. More information about background checks can be found on our district’s website under the parents & students tab. On this page you will find a section titled “Volunteer Resources.” Please click on the links located in this section to learn about the background check process.

Parents, it is extremely important that during morning drop off and afternoon dismissal you remain in the right lane for the duration of drop off and pick up. This is to ensure the safety of our students and staff.

Parents, please remember that there will be no school beginning this Wednesday, November 23rd through Friday, November 25th. Happy Thanksgiving!
