Good evening students and parents,

This is Lauryn Duncan, Principal at Douglass Elementary School calling with a few announcements for the week.

Please remember that our 3rd-5th grade students will be taking the EOGs this week. Our students will take the ELA EOG on Wednesday, the Math EOG on Thursday and our 5th grade students will take the Science EOG on Friday. It is extremely important that all students arrive at school on time. All testing sessions will begin promptly at 8:30 am. Students who arrive after 8:30 am will not be allowed to enter their testing session and will have to complete testing on the make-up day. Please be sure that students get a good night’s sleep and a healthy breakfast to ensure success on the test.

Parents, as the school year comes to an end we wanted to let you know that the Eden Salvation Army located at 314 Morgan Rd. prepares a hot lunch Monday through Friday each week throughout the summer. The lunches are free and are ready by 12:00 pm each day for those wishing to eat lunch. Transportation is not provided. If you have any questions please feel free to contact Sibyl Carter at the Eden Salvation Army.

Dance team tryouts for any rising 6th, 7th, and 8th graders will be held May 30th-June 1st from 3:30-6:00 pm in the Holmes Middle School gym. You must have a current sports physical on file in order to try out. Physical forms are available in the front office at Holmes Middle School. Please be sure to wear comfortable clothing and tennis shoes. Please bring a bottle of water. Be sure to be on time and ready to move.

We are so excited to announce that the Douglass Yearbooks have arrived! Yearbooks will be distributed to students at school on Wednesday, May 31. If you didn't preorder a yearbook and would still like one, we will be selling them at awards ceremonies June 2-June 6.
