Good evening students and parents,

This is Lauryn Duncan, Principal at Douglass Elementary School calling with a few announcements for the week.

Parents, as the school year comes to an end we wanted to let you know that the Eden Salvation Army located at 314 Morgan Rd. prepares a hot lunch Monday through Friday each week throughout the summer. The lunches are free and are ready by 12:00 pm each day for those wishing to eat lunch. Transportation is not provided. If you have any questions please feel free to contact Sibyl Carter at the Eden Salvation Army.

Dance team tryouts for any rising 6th, 7th, and 8th graders will be held May 30th-June 1st from 3:30-6:00 pm in the Holmes Middle School gym. You must have a current sports physical on file in order to try out. Physical forms are available in the front office at Holmes Middle School. Please be sure to wear comfortable clothing and tennis shoes. Please bring a bottle of water. Be sure to be on time and ready to move.

Parents, we will be welcoming our former Eagles on Tuesday, May 16 as Morehead High school seniors who came through Douglass Elementary walk the halls one last time before they graduate.

Parents, we have our end of year awards assemblies scheduled. Please mark your calendars! Our kindergarten awards assembly will be Friday, June 2 beginning at 9:00 am. Our first grade awards assembly will be Monday, June 5 beginning at 9:00 am. Second grade awards assembly will be Monday, June 5 beginning at 1:00 pm. Our third grade awards assembly will be Tuesday, June 6 beginning at 9:00 am and our fourth grade awards assembly will be Tuesday, June 6 beginning at 1:00 pm. Finally, our 5th grade graduation and awards assembly is scheduled for Wednesday, June 7 beginning at 8:30 am.
