Good Evening students and parents,

This is Lauryn Duncan, Principal at Douglass Elementary School calling with a few announcements for the week.

Our Battle of the Books team will practice after school from 3:00 to 4:00 pm this Wednesday. If your child participates on the Battle of the Books team please be sure their ride is here at 4:00 pm.

Parents, if you have a rising kindergartener please join us on March 21 at Douglass Elementary beginning at 6:00 for a kindergarten 101 session. Mrs. June Nealy will present important information to parents of rising kindergarteners. Please remember that your child must turn 5 on or before August 31.

Also, mark your calendars, kindergarten registration will begin April 17. Douglass Elementary will host a kindergarten registration event on April 17 from 3:00-6:00 and on May 4 from 8:00-6:00. More information about kindergarten registration here at Douglass will be sent out at a later date.

Our next PTO meeting will be this Tuesday, March 14 beginning at 5:30 pm in the media center. Our PTO invites you to attend the meeting as they will discuss plans for the remainder of the school year.

Our spring pictures and class picture day is this Wednesday, March 15. Information about pictures came home with your child two weeks ago. Please be sure to send in your order form and money for individual and class pictures before March 15.

A sneak peek of our 2022-2023 Douglass Yearbook Cover has been posted on Dojo. Online sales have started! Each yearbook is $20, and you can purchase now at https://ybpay.lifetouch.com/ with ID Code 14915823. Physical sales will begin at the end of March. More details are coming soon. Be sure to get your yearbook and save these memories for a lifetime!

Finally, I would like to thank everyone that participated in our candy bar fundraiser in September. Thank you to everyone who has turned in any outstanding candy money. We still have not received payment for 25 boxes of chocolate which means we still have a $1,510 outstanding balance. That’s a considerable amount of money that we could really use to support our students and their learning. If you have not turned in your candy money, please do that this week.

We hope you enjoy the rest of your evening and we look forward to seeing you bright and early tomorrow morning.
