Good Evening students and parents,
This is Lauryn Duncan, Principal at Douglass Elementary School calling with a few announcements for the week.
Just a reminder, breakfast and lunch are no longer free of charge this year. The cost of breakfast is $2.25 and the cost of lunch is $3.25. If you are interested in completing a lunch form please visit our school website at douglasselementary.org and click on the lunch form link located on the homepage. Lunch accounts can be created and updated by visiting k12paymentcenter.com.
Our Battle of the Books team will practice after school from 3:00 to 4:00 pm this Thursday. If your child participates on the Battle of the Books team please be sure their ride is here at 4:00 pm.
Our 3rd, 4th and 5th graders will be taking their Check Ins this week. Testing is scheduled to begin promptly at 8:30 am on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday morning. Please be sure your child gets a good night’s sleep and arrives at school on time.
Parents Wednesday, February 8th is an early release day. Students will be dismissed at 12:45 pm. If your child is a car rider please be sure their ride is here at 12:45 pm..
Parents, we are excited to celebrate the 100th day of school, Friday, February 10th. Please encourage your child to participate in celebrating this great accomplishment.
Our next PTO meeting will be this Tuesday, February 7th beginning at 5:30 pm in the media center. Our PTO invites you to attend the meeting as we will finalize plans for the Valentine’s dance.
Also, our PTO sponsored Valentine’s dance is this Friday, February 10th from 2:45-4:30 pm. The PTO will crown a prince and princess for grades preK-2 and a king and queen for grades 3-5 at the Valentine’s dance. Please be sure that permission slips and money for the dance are turned in tomorrow morning. Students who do not have a permission slip will not be permitted to stay after school for the dance. To ensure the safety of all students, dismissal from the dance will follow our same car rider dismissal routine. Parents will need to stay in their cars, utilize the drive thru as we call students to cones.
Finally, please remember that this is the last week to order items for our Spring Fundraiser. The last day to order is Thursday, February 9th. Items such as cookie dough will be delivered to Douglass Elementary on March 9th. More information about picking up fundraiser items will be sent home at a later time.
