Good Evening students and parents,
This is Lauryn Duncan, Principal at Douglass Elementary School calling with a few announcements for the week.
Rockingham County School’s Special Olympics will take place Friday, April 28. We are so excited to have our students participate in the activities and games. In honor of our athletes we encourage everyone to participate in spirit this week. Monday is “DREAM BIG” day and students can wear appropriate pajamas or comfy clothes. Tuesday is “be a character builder” day and students are encouraged to dress like their favorite book character. Wednesday is “Be a Champion Hero” day and students can dress up like their favorite hero or wear their favorite sports gear. Thursday is “Be You-nique” day and students are encouraged to wear their most unique, wacky and fun outfits. Friday is “Eagle Spirit” day and students can wear blue or Douglass attire. Staff and students will line the hallways to cheer on our athletes as they depart for the games and activiies.
Parents, the 2022-2023 yearbook sale has been extended to this Friday, April 28. Please be sure to turn in cash or check by Friday, April 28. The cost of a yearbook is $20.
Douglass Elementary’s PTO would like to invite all families to the Roll-A-Bout in Eden on Tuesday, April 25 from 5:30-7:30 pm for our Skate Night! It’s “Flashback Night.” Please remember that this is not a drop off event and an adult must accompany any student attending Skate Night.
Parents, please remember that per board policy there should be no tobacco use on campus. This includes the car rider line in the mornings and afternoons.
Our Title 1 Move Up Night and PTO sponsored 5th Grade vs Staff kickball game will be held this Thursday, April 27. Grade level presentations will begin at 5:00 pm in classrooms. The kickball game will begin at 6:15 and there will be a $3.00 admission fee for all adults. Please be sure to return your invitation indicating if you and your family will be attending in order for us to plan accordingly. RCS is asking parents and guardians to complete a survey to help us learn what you think about our schools and services. Your thoughts and opinions are very important. This survey is supported by North Carolina’s Department of Public Instruction and through this survey we will use your experiences and views to help us build on our strengths and work to make improvements.
