AlertNow Message: April 16, 2023

Good Evening students and parents,

This is Lauryn Duncan, Principal at Douglass Elementary School calling with a few announcements for the week.

I hope you enjoyed a restful spring break and are looking forward to finishing up the 2022-2023 school year strong.

Parents, if you have a rising kindergartener, please join us tomorrow from 3:00-6:00 pm for kindergarten registration here at Douglass Elementary. Please remember that your child must turn 5 on or before August 31. You will have an opportunity to complete registration and our newest Eagles can tour the building and receive goodies. We will also have another registration event on May 4 from 8:00-6:00. If you have any questions please contact the school.

Parents, please remember that per board policy there should be no tobacco use on campus. This includes the car rider line in the mornings and afternoons.

If you or anyone you know is interested in applying for a classified position for Rockingham County Schools, please consider attending the classified employee job fair at the AG Center located at 525 NC 65 in Reidsville on April 18 from 4:00-7:00 pm.

Parents, safety is our top priority, therefore if you utilize the parking lot please be sure to park in a parking spot.

Our Title 1 Move Up Night and PTO sponsored 5th Grade vs staff kickball game will be held on Thursday, April 27. Grade level presentations will begin at 5:00 pm in classrooms. The kickball game will begin at 6:15 and there will be a $3.00 admission fee for all adults. We look forward to seeing all our families here at Douglass on April 27.

Finally, I would like to thank everyone that participated in our candy bar fundraiser in September. Thank you to everyone who has turned in any outstanding candy money. We still have not received payment for 22 boxes of chocolate which means we still have a $1,260 outstanding balance. That’s a considerable amount of money that we could really use to support our students and their learning. If you have not turned in your candy money, please do that this week.

We hope you enjoy the rest of your evening and we look forward to seeing you bright and early tomorrow morning.

Lauryn Duncan
